PLEDGING!
Interested in joining Kappa Phi? Here's some information about the pledge period that you'll need to know!
Pledge Handbook & Quizzes: |
Service Hours: |
Pledges to Kappa Phi will receive a Pledge Handbook that contains general information about Kappa Phi including its beliefs, structure, traditions, and program theme. There will be either a series of quizzes or one cumulative written test of your knowledge of the material contained in the pledge handbook and discussed at pledge meetings.
Pledge Pins:Each pledge will receive a pledge pin which they are required to wear throughout the pledge period. At the end of the pledge period, the pins are returned in exchanged for a Kappa Phi pin.
Dues for the semester are $50. However, they are divided in half, so ½ are due at the beginning of the pledge period and the other half are due at the end of the pledge period at the end of the semester. If you are unable to finance the semester dues, aid is available.
|
Every sister and pledge is required to perform a set hours of service every semester. The pledge class is also required to do at least one service project as a group, with at least 80% of the pledges present.
Getting to Know the Sisters:Pledges must meet with all of the sisters at least once. You should know 5 facts about all of the sisters, and 10 facts about your big sister(s).
Big/Little Week:
Each pledge is paired with an active sister. For one week, that sister decorates the pledge's room, gives small gifts, and leaves clues as to her identity. At the end of the week, the Big's identity is revealed to her Little Sis.

Requirements for Initiation:
|
Degrees of Membership:The Degree of the Pine may be conferred upon those meeting the national and local requirements. This degree marks the beginning of the pledge period. The pledge period has a three-fold purpose:
The Degree of the Light may be conferred upon sponsors, honorary members, and those who have completed the membership requirements. The Degree of the Rose may be conferred upon a member in good standing leaving an active chapter upon completion of her prescribed course of study, or upon the recommendation of the chapter sponsor. The Legion of Light is an honor bestowed upon Kappa Phi alumnae in full-time church related vocations, or who carry out the ministry of the laity. |
Big-Little Reveal Spring 2016
We took a traditional approach to our Big-Little reveal this spring. A traditional candle-lit reveal on the night of Degree of the Light seemed appropriate! All but one of the Littles had no idea who their Big was! Great job on another year, Bigs!

Big-Little Reveal Fall 2015
For our Big-Little reveal, we arranged a scavenger hunt and puzzle piece match for the Littles to find their Bigs!
